Golf Club Clones vs Major Brand Names
In the automobile industry, each manufacturer offers their own concept
of their truck, including Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet, Toyota and Nissan, etc.
Each of these trucks use borrowed or “cloned” design ideas, and modeled
their vehicles after one another and after whomever designed the very first
pick-up truck. They all do this completely within the law and they are very
passionate about their products. This sort of activity occurs in nearly every
industry. The drug manufacturers offer generic medications. Somebody started
a light beer and each brewery followed with their own version of light beer.
Somebody had to invent the original, and everybody else follows along.
Though we at times find it difficult to decipher the difference in design,
appearance, comfort, effectiveness, flavor, or benefit from one truck, medication,
or light beer, we do know that they have similar features but are not exact
copies. None of the companies is trying to trick the consumer. In
the golf industry, we do the same thing.
Golfers mostly recognize the major market brands that are found in the
sporting goods stores and golf course pro shops, including; Callaway, Taylor
Made, King Cobra, Adams, Ping, Odyssey, and Nike. Every year these manufacturers
offer their new and updated product designs in an effort to outdo each other,
some of them offering features very similar to one of the competitors previous
product features (just like the trucks, medicines, and beers)
Clones also known as ‘knock-off ‘, ‘copy’ or ‘look-alike’ golf clubs are all
a part of a similar process. They are designed to be competitively familiar
in design and appearance to the other widely recognized golf clubs, yet
remain legal by not infringing on the copyrights. Simply put, Clone clubs
are designed to have a similar appearance to the recognized big brand names.
Surprisingly, I suppose that in realizing that there is such a large market
in clone golf clubs, I have found that some of the major brands actually
manufacture the clone of their own golf clubs. In knowing this, one it is
easy to figure that there is no sacrifice in quality.
Clones are not made to confuse the consumer into thinking they are getting
a major brand name product. They are designed to offer the consumer similarly
designed, similar performing, and similarly attractive appearing product
yet offer competitive pricing. Clone golf clubs are made from the same materials,
have the same manufacturing process and use the same design principals.
Clone golf clubs use many of the same shaft and grip suppliers and they
most definitely perform similar to (or often better than) the name brands.
The important point is we buy our components from the same small community
of golf manufacturing suppliers. We provide similare or better performance
but offer you a much better value. We are so confident about this at TheAceofClubs.com,
that we offer product warranties and satisfaction guarantees. The majority
of the time, our clubs are about half the price of the major brand name
clubs PLUS you get the benefit of having yours custom assembled. Please
see our article about
why you should consider custom golf clubs.
Reasons for
large price differences
If you have been in to your local
sporting goods store or pro-shop looking for golf clubs, then you are plenty
aware that a major brand name set of irons will cost you $900 to $1200 and
a titanium driver will cost you up to $400, fairway woods $175 and putters
up to $150. In most cases, the golf clubs in The Ace of Clubs catalog are
half that price or less. There are very good reasons why we are able
to sell our similar quality clone golf clubs for much less.
The major brand names perform the majority of the industries research and
development which is a huge expense for them. Additionally, they have
huge advertising budgets. They pay guys like Tiger Woods and other
professionals a pretty handsome paycheck to endorse their products. The major
brand name companies have to find ways to support these massive expenses
and it is therefore necessary to pass the cost to the consumer in the price
tag for their products. We do not have that expense t The Ace of Clubs Custom
Golf Clubs.
The fact is...the actual cost to build a major brand name club costs exactly
no more to manufacture than the much less expensive clone golf club. This
is the reason that you can get a high quality clone golf club at about half
the price AND have it custom fitted at no extra charge. Simply put, it is
possible to get a BETTER performing customized golf club for less money. Once
again, we will much of the time buy our components from the same suppliers,
using similar quality heads and the exact same shafts and grips.
How many rounds of golf will be able to buy with the savings you enjoy from

Are Golf Clones
Illegal?
I have been dealing in golf clubs
sales for over a decade and a half and I have never seen a copy golf club
that bears the actual brand name label (although it is not impossible).
Illegal knockoffs and counterfeits have occurred in the golf industry in
the past. That is a market that we do not want to be a part of. The major
manufacturers have made accusations in the past about illegal golf clubs
and counterfeiters stealing their profits. Honestly, the counterfeiters
are stealing from everybody alike including you and us and the major brands.
Illegally counterfeited or copied products are designed to confuse the consumer
into thinking that they are getting something different than what they expect.
This is a violation of legal trade including trademark, patent, and copyright
infringements. They are stealing from legitimate companies like ourselves
because we play by the rules and operate within the laws. Copyright laws
allow for a certain percentage of similarity. We like to offer our customers
a products that meet as close as possible, but not exceed that limit. We
at The Ace of Clubs custom golf
do to not violate the rights of other brands. We also make a strong effort
to provide our customers with top quality products at the best possible
prices
